Big Spring Clean in New Ash Green

Ash Green Scout Group's 140 strong group of Beaver, Cubs and Scouts, have all taking part in the Keep Britain Tidy, Big Tidy Up campaign this month.

Children from every section of the group were tasked with clearing up local green areas and public spaces and collected over 30 big bags of rubbish during a one month period.

Peter Lewis, Ash Green Group Scout Leader said:

"Well done to both Timber & Wilderness troops for making a start on the Keep Britain Tidy campaign. Other members of our group will also be taking part in this campaign and are providing a real community service in helping to keep our public spaces clean.

"Ash Green Scouts will be using this to help the young people work towards their Environmental Conservation Activity Badge"

Taking part in the Big Tidy Up is a great way to teach young people about the problem of litter. With litter being a major issue for many areas across the country, this is an ideal way to teach young people about the problem of litter in their local environment.

The Groups' Beaver colonies, Cub packs, Scout Troops took part in litter picking, with planned clear ups each term.

Peter continued:

"Our group regularly undertakes community projects, the leaders and parent helpers who support us mean we can provide life skills and activities for over 140 children. We are currently running a campaign to get more adults involved in supporting the group. If you could spare a couple of hours a week, we'd love to hear from you!
