Adult Recruitment Week - Support

You'll have an excellent support network within both Ash Green Scouts and Swanley District where we operate.

We are an experienced leader team and we will work with you every step of the way to ensure that you feel confident in your role. In addition to the formal training programme, we will give you hands on experience before you take up the role.

Assistant Section Leaders, for example, could go to other Groups to watch other leaders take an evening’s activities. They will spend a couple of evenings watching experienced leaders.

All new leaders will be given training on how to take games, how to control a meeting, how to have FUN in a safe environment. They will practice with real young people and be mentored on how they have done.

While the above activity is being carried out, the CRB check will take place and once this is complete you will be placed with your Group. Your Scouting "buddy" will have agreed a plan so that you are given an active role, feel involved from day one and not just be left standing in the corner. We will tailor the training programme to suit you and we will always be on hand - with help and advice.

You'll join a great social network when the leader teams get together - the most recent was our Christmas Outing for dinner. Partners are welcome to these social events.

You'll find us a very family orientated group. Partners (provided they have the CRB check) are welcome to camps and all events, as are children of Leaders who are not in the Group.
